ABOUT THE AUTHOR

My life is my dreams. The dreams which come true all the time. Maybe since my childhood somewhere in my subconsciousness knowledge of visualization techniques was hidden together with fulfilling wishes and  the Universe Law “like attracts like”  . Yes, I’m not mistaken, just “like” not “opposite”, as we were taught at school Physics lesson. We attract the like to those things that we dream about and what we desire most of all on Earth.   If we are customized to joyful perception of the world and we wish, trust and wait for something good to happen to us, then our life change to better, and we achieve everything we seek. I’m simply sure, that all our thoughts materialize with the help of a visualization force and constant playing of different parts in our life. We are like actors on  a stage, get used to a part, suggested by the Universe and we play it all our life , the scenario of which we write on our own.
My first acquaintance with English ABC, the English language melody, favourite teacher, interesting lessons and a burning desire to learn to speak English, to understand English speaking. Childish dream – to be like my favourite teacher. Hard work makes my dream come true – I AM  A Gorlovka Teachers’ Training Institute  of Foreign Languages student! My dreams become a real life! A new level arises new dreams and wishes. Not only to master English but to master interesting techniques how to teach English. Nothing in our life happens accidentally. Everything that happens to us has a definite goal. And my destiny again helps me  make my dream come true – at the Institute I meet wonderful enthusiastic people. They teach me to constant improve myself, to work with interest, to get joy from my working. A desire to study never leaves me.
Again my dream comes true – I AM a teacher of English in my Native School.  I realize that every lesson must be not only interesting but really connected with life, it has to open the world, other cultures. My love to English is transmitted to my students. The atmosphere of trust, mutual understanding, respect helps me  make my students to believe in themselves. I understand that little quantity of hours  I have to countervail with the elements of intensive teaching foreign languages techniques. My lesson becomes alive – dramatizing, mode of moving rows, aerobics, songs, poems, games, cartoons, movie fragments, authentic materials from the Internet, videos from the TV channels BBC, Travel, different Internet materials. All these help me  create a real life English speaking learning environment. These lessons are the lessons of communication, when children feel that English is not a goal, it is rather an instrument of theirs in preparing  to their future dialogue with  the World Cultures. I notice that not all children perceive and remember information in the same way. I get acquainted with the neurolinguistic theory. If we want to help a child we should start with his or her brain. I understand now that intensification, personal orientation, active approach, competence-based approach – all of these directions in teaching are based on the NLP theory. I design my lesson in such  a way that every child can get information through a channel which works the best for him. An auditory learner must learn more through listening, a visual learner  - through seeing, a kinaesthetic one – through moving, doing and touching. But at each lesson to follow such a division is very difficult. Moreover, it takes a lot of time preparing hand outs. That’s why the best way – when all of the students, both left brains and right brains simultaneously do the same at different stages of a lesson – listen, see, feel and produce their own  information. Now I’m interested in the whole brain teaching. This year  I’m going to study this approach and try to use it to improve the process of teaching, especially in the classroom management, motivation and problem solving teaching.
Teaching children to communicate in English I extend in my extracurricular activity  working with the English Club. My dreams again come true. By invitation of our town NGO “Cheryomushki” the  Peace Corps volunteer, Mrs. Neva Keres comes to us to work as a community developer. I invite her to work with me in the English Club . We collaborate fruitfully. We conduct History Geography and Culture lessons about The USA, Britain and Ukraine. We teach children   to understand native speakers of English, clearing out all not understandable things while  watching   cartoons, movies, news, singing  songs. We organize English speaking holidays in school. Prepare concerts in English. I see – the language barrier is broken, my students are not afraid of speaking and making mistakes, they are fond of communicating and socializing.

Speaking about qualities to succeed in teaching we can’t but have the intellectual power, curiosity, initiativeness, dertimination, perseverance, flexibility, originality, erudition, openmindedness. But on top of all these traits a teacher must be a humane one able to find in every child an intellectual and moral power and help him   become a personality. A teacher  will be in the constant search of realization of his or her dream – to bring up  students competent people in life. And this dream comes true in any case. According to Richard Bach  “ you’re never given a dream without also being given the power to make it true”.
